In Novocherkassk, the qualifying round of the International Championship for solving engineering cases "Case-in" in the "Electric Power Industry" league took place. The winner was a team of four undergraduates from the South-Russian State Polytechnic University (NPI) named after M.I. Platov (YURGPU), interns of the personnel reserve group of the Branch of JSC "SO UES" ODU South, undergoing an internship on the basis of the Branch of JSC "SO UES" Rostov RDURostov RDU

To participate in the qualifying round of the "Case-in" championship, nine teams of three to four people each were formed from among the students of the energy and electromechanical faculties of the South Russian State Pedagogical University (NPI). The six teams included undergraduates of the university studying under the specialized training program of JSC SO UES, and bachelors - participants in the career guidance program of JSC SO UES. The children were asked to develop an effective scheme for the internal power supply of the Bystrinsky Mining and Processing Plant (GOK) for the period of development, until it is connected to the UES of Russia. According to the terms of the assignment, the GOK is located in the Trans-Baikal Territory, at a considerable distance from all major cities. There is no connection to the UES of Russia, however, the development of the deposit and the processing of ore must be launched already at the present time, due to the high demand for manufactured products.

The results of team performances were evaluated by an expert commission, which included teachers of the SRSPU (NPI), representatives of the branch of SO UES JSC ODU South, the branch of PJSC IDGC of the South - Rostovenergo, the branch of PJSC FGC UES - Rostov PMES, LLC " EuroChem-VolgaKaliy. According to the results of the regional stage, the decision of the “Phase A” team was recognized as the best, which included undergraduates of the SRSPU (NPI), participants in the specialized training program of SO UES JSC - Dmitry Gurov, Alexander Kalinkin, Olga Lgova, Pavel Polonyankin.

The Case-in International Engineering Championship is the only federal championship of the fuel and energy and mineral resources complexes in Russia, an effective tool for transferring practical knowledge, experience and new competencies to future engineers. In 2017, 47 leading technical universities from 35 regions of Russia and the CIS countries take part in it. More than 3,000 students will fight for a ticket to the Case-in final, which will be held in Moscow on May 30-31, 2017, for three months.

The championship includes five directions: leagues in electric power industry, mining, exploration, metallurgy, oil and gas business. The winners in each league will have the opportunity to complete internships and internships in leading industry companies, and the champions of the league in the electric power industry will also take part in the annual Energy of Youth educational summer forum.

One of the objectives of Case-in is to enable students to join the professional community, establish contacts with future employers, and acquire and improve self-presentation and public speaking skills. In turn, thanks to the championship, organizers and experts have the opportunity to identify the most gifted and promising students for further work at industry enterprises already at the training stage.
